Creating a Caring Classroom Community!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to First Grade!  I am very excited to get to know you all and work closely with you this year!  Throughout our school year, we will be working to build community within our classroom through a variety of fun activities and projects.  During our first week of school, students worked together to create a class spiderweb with yarn!  The kids needed to use teamwork, patience, and good listening skills to be successful.  The children each said their name and why they were special, and then took turns passing the yarn to create a web.  Everyone learned that we all must work together to help each other succeed, and that if we don't, we would have a huge mess and lots of problems.  Once the web was built, it was lots of fun to lift it up in the air to see our web underneath!  Great work, First Graders!

Just a reminder, that our Open House night is tomorrow, September 28th, from 6:00-7:30.  I hope to see you all there!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Carie Gregory

Learning About Abraham Lincoln!

Dear Parents,

It's hard to believe that June is already here and summer is just around the corner!  Our students recently worked very hard to research facts and learn more about the life and history of our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln for our annual Bridgeport Festival.  This year, our theme was "Stepping Back in Time With Character!"  First grade taught the word of "Respect" through a wonderful presentation about Mr. Abe Lincoln.  They made posters, read facts for our school, and made cute top hats with black beards, just like what Abe wore! It was a great assembly during the day and fun- yet very windy, festival at night!  We hope you enjoy our pictures from the day, and that you and your family had a nice time at the festival, too.  It was wonderful to see so many of you that night!  Thanks so much for your continued support, and enjoy the great weather ahead this summer!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Carie Gregory
