Summer Is Just Around the Corner!

Dear Parents,

Wow! What a fun-filled week we had together this week!  We learned all about different seashells and the animals that once lived in them with Miss Ellie.  Then, she gave us the fun task of identifying all the shells she brought us back from her trip to Siesta Key, Florida.  In groups, students had to work together to identify and match them to the reference guides she also brought. At the end of her visit, she then surprised us by giving each student a baggie of shells, a large scallop shell, and a beautiful sand dollar!  We then got to enjoy a tasty coconut treat all the way from Florida, too!  Thank you, Miss Ellie!

In addition, we also had lots of fun remembering our year together in pictures by scrapbooking a poster called "Memorable Moments In First Grade!"  They look great on our bulletin boards and many have stopped by to say how cool they look!  We also can't forget to mention the tons of fun had by all at our Bridgeport Festival last night.  The weather really cooperated for us and many families enjoyed the games, food, music, raffles, bounce slide, dunking booth, and several area businesses that attended and taught us all about them!

Finally, we can't forget about our awesome field trip to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo today!  Again, the weather was great and many families were able to join us!  Some of our favorite parts were seeing the new baby elephant, watching the funny antics of the Humboldt Penguins, and eating lunch with our friends in Mrs. Clark's classroom!  We had so many parents and family members attend, and we thank you all for your help and for being with us today!  With only eight school days left of first grade, summer really is just around the corner.  Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Gregory
